Parent Support

Networks of engaged parents supporting the flourishing of each other's children and families.

Parent Support

The Connected Parents, Strong Families support groups are built on key principles of SBCC's community-building strategy, applying our experience building neighborhood-based relationships to parents of young children. The groups operate from a strengths-based perspective, focusing on participants' gifts and talents and how they can utilize those strengths to move forward as individuals, parents and role models for their children.

Groups modify our successful 10-Step Project Planning Process from the community-building model to provide a vehicle for group members to create and execute an individual or family project. The full sequence of group formation and development takes place over a period of 4-6 months, with 2-4 months to support members' project development. Many families completing this sequence are prepared to begin membership in a Neighborhood Action Council (NAC), further supporting and expanding their effectiveness as child-focused agents for positive community transformation.
